Games Week at The Guardian

by The Acagamic

Everybody still searching for an excuse of the cultural impact or significance of games, will be delighted to hear that the guardian site has decided to have a whole week dedicated to press coverage of gaming. This special includes a tech weekly gaming related podcast, an over-the-top statement piece from acclaimed MUD godfather Richard Bartle (Quote: “they” [the gamers] “aren’t psychopathic killers, and they resent those boneheads – that’s you – who imply that they are addicted and are psychopathic killers”), a nice snippet about Sony’s London Studio and of course not missing the gigantic release of Grand Theft Auto IV this week. Yes, GTA IV will again provoke public debate about gaming, let’s hope this time around, we will get some insightful reflections.
